Riley Chalson is a pre-med student at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill pursuing a degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. Riley combines a strong academic foundation with extensive clinical, research, leadership, and mentoring experience, while actively exploring a future career in medicine.
Riley’s experiences span laboratory research, healthcare volunteering, physician shadowing, and academic tutoring. As an undergraduate research assistant, Riley contributes to biochemistry research focused on lipid metabolism and enzyme function. Riley has also gained clinical exposure through hospital volunteering, physician shadowing across multiple specialties, and certification as a Clinical Medical Assistant.
Outside of academics, Riley has a strong passion for mentorship and leadership. As a private chemistry tutor, learning assistant, gymnastics coach, and longtime Special Olympics volunteer, Riley has helped students of all ages build confidence and develop new skills. Riley enjoys supporting students interested in science, healthcare, athletics, and academic success while encouraging them to pursue ambitious goals and meaningful opportunities.
